At Skybound we are passionate about finding the right communication system for each individual child. We want children to learn to speak, but we recognise that it may not be possible for all children, or that it may take some time for them to develop speech that is in line with the rest of the child’s development. Therefore a child may need an alternative communication system until their speech matches their other abilities. We assess each child to find out what would be the best form of communication for them as every child is individual. We use an assessment that assesses 46 different communication methods. The main communication systems we use are sign language, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), voice output devices and Proloquo2go. We are very proud to announce that we have now officially become part of the Proloquo2go Centres Program. We now have a number of devices at our Centre that have Proloquo2go on them and have seen some amazing breakthroughs with some children using this app.
