Many people cannot go for long without checking their media devices. Sometimes this can get in the way of everyday life. There are apps to control our time on our devices but also there is the Kitchen Safe! This week we have been experimenting with the Kitchen Safe for controlling iPad access, for a child that would search for the iPad constantly if it wasn’t in the same room and if in the same room but switched off would be quite happy just to look at it and hold it. The iPad was the first thing the child looked for in the morning. So we tried using the Kitchen Safe. Here are a few pointers:
- It does not have an override, once you put something in there you cannot get it back until the time is up.
- It does not make an audible sound when the timer is up, so we also set a timer with an alarm so as the child would be alerted to when it was open.
- The shortest time you can set is 1 minute.
- We bought the XL version, but it is not big enough for iPad mini’s that are in the steering wheel cases.
It worked well for the child we used it with. It could also have many other applications for everyday family life!
