I have always aspired to work in healthcare and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Upon discovering Speech and Language Therapy, I realised it aligned perfectly with my career goals. I completed my degree in Speech and Language Therapy in 2024 in Cardiff, where I developed a comprehensive understanding of speech, language, communication, as well as eating, drinking, and swallowing.
I completed many placement hours whilst studying. It really taught me how valuable SLT’s are in different settings and with so many different ages. I worked in mainstream schools, special schools, care homes, residential homes, the client’s home, on hospital wards, in clinic and in the justice system. Following my range of placements, I found my love for supporting adults with learning disabilities and children with complex needs. Then I found Skybound Therapies which allows me to work with a variety of client groups.
One of the aspects I appreciate most about my job is the opportunity to meet and engage with many wonderful families. I believe that establishing rapport and understanding the client is essential for effective therapeutic outcomes. One of my proudest moments as a Speech and Language Therapist occurred when a nonverbal child with challenging behaviours created a drawing for me and expressed that it was intended for me. This experience highlighted the significant positive impact my work has on their lives.
I am originally from Birmingham then moved to Cardiff for university and never left! In my free time, you will find me baking in my kitchen.
