The Foundation of our Success: Why Values Matter at Skybound

At Skybound, we hold certain values very close to our hearts. These values are not just empty words, they form the backbone of our organisation and guide the way we interact with our clients, their families, and our fellow team members. In this blog post, we’ll explain why each of these values is so important to us and how we put them front and centre in our day to day work.

Mission statements and values are an essential part of any organisation’s identity. Despite their importance, mission statements are often overlooked or dismissed as a formality. There is always the risk that they will be left on the proverbial shelf to gather dust while everyone is busy at work.

We believe that keeping our values alive requires intentional effort and consistency. Some of the ways we achieve this are:

  • Clearly Communicating our Mission, Vision and Values – in our induction training, during recruitment, on our company intranet, on our website and in this blog!
  • Regularly revisiting, evaluating and updating them as a team to ensure they remain relevant
  • Integrating our values directly into our job descriptions and measuring staff performance against them
  • Opening our doors to regulatory bodies and inspections in order to hold ourselves to account and maintain high standards

Our values define who we are as a company and how we serve our clients. They are:

We collaborate with clients, their families and their teams to develop effective, bespoke services to equip individuals with the skills to improve their lives.
This has the number one spot for very good reason, at the core of Skybound (like the writing through a stick of rock!) is the desire to make a positive difference in the lives of our clients. It really goes right back to how Skybound started out all those years ago. It’s our ‘why?’! This passion drives us to go above and beyond in our work and tailor our services to the unique needs of the individual.
We thrive on collaboration with others to learn and share in order to develop effective services.
Skybounders know that we do not have all the answers, and we value the knowledge and skills of others. By working together and sharing our expertise, we can develop more effective services that meet the needs of our clients. We also believe in sharing our knowledge and skills with our clients and their families, empowering them to take an active role in their own therapy and to continue to improve even after they have left our care.
We are motivated to find ways to engage individuals, families and staff to develop creative solutions.
We understand that therapy can be challenging and that progress is not always easy. That’s why we strive to be motivating and engaging in our approach. By creating a positive and supportive environment, we can help our clients to stay focused and committed to their goals. We also believe in being solution-focused, rather than dwelling on problems. This means that we are always looking for creative ways to help our clients overcome obstacles and achieve.
We seek new knowledge to continually improve our services and processes.
This means staying up to date with the latest research and techniques in our field, seeking out feedback from our clients and team members, and being open to new ideas and perspectives. This includes a continuous training and development programme for our team. By constantly striving to improve, we can provide the best possible care to our clients and stay at the forefront of our industry.
We follow policies, procedures and ethical guidelines to ensure we act with professionalism and integrity.
Last, but definitely not least, we are accountable for our actions and strive to ensure we are providing the best possible care while maintaining high standards. We have strict policies and procedures in place, are members of professional governing bodies such as the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board) and we are registered and regularly inspected by Care Inspectorate Wales. All of our Behaviour Analysts are UKBA(cert) qualified, the highest level of certification offered by the UK-SBA (UK Society for Behaviour Analysis). The UK-SBA’s register was recently accredited by the Professional Standards Authority, providing additional peace of mind to anyone looking for a behaviour analytic practitioner.

We believe that by staying true to these values, we build trust with our clients, their families, and our team members. This way, we can provide the best possible care to our clients and enable them to live their best lives.
