I grew up in Gloucestershire and, then by chance, ended up living on the Isle of Man for three years. From there, I spent a decade working at sea and lived in Seattle, USA, for two years. I followed my family when they moved to Wales in 2002 and settled here permanently in 2010.
Before joining Skybound, my background was predominantly in tourism and customer service. I spent 10 years working on cruise ships, where I began to develop my finance knowledge and gained experience in a variety of operational and people-focused roles. Some of my proudest achievements came during my time at sea, including being responsible for customs and immigration clearance and managing complex crew and passenger inspections. I felt honoured to receive recognition from US Immigration Officers for the organisation and efficiency of these processes.
One role I particularly enjoyed was working as a Crew Purser, which is a little like working in HR. Early in that role, I helped a crew member resolve a long-standing payroll issue that had previously gone unresolved. What started as one enquiry quickly led to many others, and it taught me an important lesson: good customer service isn’t just about paying customers. From then on, I made it my mission to improve the service provided by the Crew Office and to better support our internal customers.
I am married with three grown-up stepchildren and am a huge fan of football, rugby internationals, and motorcycling. I also enjoy travelling, although recent trips have mainly involved visiting family in the Philippines, rather than sightseeing.
After several decades in tourism, I decided I was ready for a new challenge and joined Skybound in August 2025. In a nutshell, my main focus is to ensure that finance systems are working as they should, processing expenses and invoicing weekly and monthly. Although I am not directly involved in supporting our individuals, I take great pleasure in seeing the positive impact my colleagues have on people’s lives. I love hearing about the positive changes everyone contributes towards, helping to create better outcomes for our individuals and their families, and I am proud to play a part in supporting the wider team behind the scenes.
