BIO

My journey into the world of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) began during my first year studying Psychology at Swansea University. While searching for job opportunities, I came across a role as a Behaviour Technician within a home-based ABA programme and was introduced to Skybound Therapies who were doing consultancy on this programme. I had never come across ABA before but quickly discovered the amazing impact it was having on this individual’s life. Throughout my degree I gained further experience working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, through one-to-one support in a nursery setting and as a personal assistant supporting a child within community and home settings. I also completed a university placement within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school.

After graduating and relocating to Pembrokeshire, I began looking for a new opportunity and came across Skybound Therapies. I immediately recognised the name, and I was excited to find out more about the role. Since then, Skybound has provided me with the incredible opportunity to further my professional development through its funded ABA & Positive Behaviour Support Master’s scheme. Having the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learnt at university directly into practice at Skybound has been both rewarding and invaluable.

Since starting at Skybound around 18 months ago I have now progressed into a new role as Deputy Clinical Lead for the Pembrokeshire Community Care Team. In this position I support the training and development of new staff members, as well as overseeing the individuals’ personalised behaviour support plans. I have experience supporting individuals between the ages of 6 and 30 years old, working within their homes and out in the community on a daily basis, and then being part of the team providing 24-hour respite support. I also work alongside parents and families to help them support individuals’ independence and to achieve meaningful outcomes.  My proudest moment so far has been being a part of Skybound’s incredible journey over the last 18 months and seeing the positive impact we have had on the lives of the individuals and families we support. I am excited to see what the future holds!
